Remember the entire cast needs to sing the chorus parts.

Oh what a night...

The "birds" were singing among some of the "coolest" kids on the block!  While the art was "hanging"  out in the Louve as the "talent agents" were busy making big plans.  The "kids" were "wishing they were..."  as the "reporters" were telling it like it is.  Great 1st night...

Remember to bring your book.  You can hi-lite your lines and pencil in acting notes in your book. 

Everyone worked hard and some already have their lines memorized!

We have students coming and going as they participate in other activities(music lessons, student council, k-kids).  All we ask is that you show up before or after your activity.

Rehearsals have begun

We will have rehearsals on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays from 3:10-4:30.  Students with music lessons know they can come and go and return during rehearsal.  We will have small groups rehearsing their scenes and large groups rehearsing full cast songs. 
Please come prepared and ready to practice everyday. 
 

Calendar

Today a calendar of rehearsals went home.  We will make up the cancelled meeting for dancers and extras on Thursday, Dec. 5th 3:10-4:30.

Just readers and singers will meet this week and next week.
 
Full cast(all but stage crew) will meet the 3rd week of December. 

Stage crew will meet in January. 

Readers and singers practice starts Tuesday

Readers and singers we will begin practice on Tuesday from 3:10 to 4:30.  A calendar will be going home on Monday in your homeroom.  Bring your scripts,  a highlighter and pencil to the practice. 

Dancers and the extras we haven't seen we will meet you on Thursday Dec. 5.

Study your script

Attention readers and singers ( those with the script book) we want you to read the entire play.  Everyone else needs to begin reading and memorizing their lines.  "Cool Kids" memorize all of the lines and we will assign specific ones to you as we begin rehearsing.   "Birds" we will get CDs  for you to practice along with.

We will be meeting with the dancers and the *extras ( anyone who has not been given a contract) on Tuesday the  26TH (sorry the permission slip said the 27th) from 3:10-4:30 in Mr. Bloom's room.  Wear sneakers!

*If you have a speaking or singing role you are not considered an "extra" even though you may be used in the musical as an "extra".  Extras will be used to fill the stage during some scenes.  Extras do not speak, but may sing along as a "chorus" while on stage.

We will meet with stage crew sometime in December.  Keep checking the blog and listen for announcements during school.

The cast is set

We are looking for the singers and readers to return the contract and contact sheet by tomorrow.

 We will meet with the DANCERS and EXTRAs (not stage crew, yet) on Tuesday at 3:10 until 4:30 in Mr. Bloom's room.  Bring your permission slips with you.   Wear sneakers!

Contracts and Contacts

A contract and contact form will be going home with the students on Tuesday.  Please return the completed forms ASAP so we can begin rehearsals.  Another way to stay in touch with theater updates is with: REMIND 101.    Here's how it works:

We're impressed

To all those students who tried out!  Congratulations...

Attention all students who read and sang:  
Although it was not easy, we have some very talented kids at OCS, the directors have been taking notes and are beginning to see our future cast of Flat Stanley.  Please remember our job is to put the best kid in the best role for the best show.  You need to trust us and be very supportive of your  classmates.  Our goal is to call back the students to "reread" and "sing" the parts we envision you in on Tuesday, November 19 from 3:10 to 5 on the stage.  Your home room teachers will have permission slips in their room.  Our plan is to have the cast set so you can get the scripts before we leave for Thanksgiving.

Dancers:  We plan to meet with you before Thanksgiving so we can get you started on steps!  Be aware of morning announcements and continue checking the blog for updates.

Wow, what a night!
We will be calling back the singers with songs from the musical and and actors with lines from the show on Nov. 19 with roles in mind.  Again try finding You Tube videos of The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley to help you get into character.  Keep reading the blog for updates and look for notices from your homeroom teachers.  Thanks for taking the first step!

Tomorrow's auditions are ONLY for those of you who signed up for a singing role.  We should be done by 5:00.
If you signed up for a speaking role with no signing you will try out on Thursday from 3:10 to 5.  We will have call backs on Nov. 19th.  Once we have the leading roles and the dance groups organized we will begin practicing.  See you tomorrow

Singing and Talking Try Outs

Wow, we were impressed with the turn out!  We are excited to get the show on the road.

Attention all singers(leads):  We will have singing try outs on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 3:10 to 4:30 the location will be announced.  Be prepared to sing a "broadway-like" song you are comfortable with.  Bring your own music if you need it( it is not necessary to have music). 

Attention talking roles(leads):  We will have try outs on Thursday, 11/14 in the Library from 3:10-4:30.  We will supply the practice script that day. 

CALL BACKS are scheduled for 11/19 from 3:10-4:30. 
The location will be announced.

As of now, any one interested in stage crew and being an extra will not have to be at try outs.  Those of you who signed up to be dancers will not have to try out either. 

No one will be turned away, but remember as your directors we want to put the best person in the best role to have the best show!
